Abco Rental & Storage, IncAnyone who has taken on a camp renovation around Standish knows the unique hurdles that come with the territory. Most traditional Maine camps don’t have basements, sprawling garages, or spare rooms to stage tools and materials. When you start knocking down walls or replacing subfloors, everything inside needs to get out of the way—fast.
Our crew at Abco Rental & Storage, Inc. recently delivered a ground-level 20-foot storage containerdirectly to a residential camp remodel in Standish, ME.
The Challenge: Where Does Everything Go During a Camp Gut?
Camp interiors are compact. Trying to frame, run plumbing, or install fresh drywall while dodging stacks of couches, mattresses, kitchen cabinets, and power tools slows the job to a crawl and risks damaging the homeowner’s personal items.
Tarping items out in the yard isn’t an option in Maine—morning dampness, pine needles, rainstorms, and woodland critters will ruin furniture in days.
By having a dedicated 20ft sea container dropped right in the driveway, the owners and crew solved two problems at once:
- Clearing the Floor Plan: They emptied the interior living spaces completely, giving carpenters, electricians, and finish crews an open, safe, and efficient workspace.
- Protecting Expensive Finishes: Finish lumber, insulation, windows, and newly delivered appliances can be tucked away in a bone-dry, lockable space until the exact day they are ready to be installed.
Navigating Camp Roads with Care
Delivering out toward the water in Standish takes a skilled driver. Camp roads are often narrow, lined with overhanging pines, and built on gravel or dirt shoulders. Our tilt-bed truck operator carefully navigated the property approach, dropping the 20-footer flat, level, and precisely where the homeowners wanted it—close enough for easy carrying, but clear of active contractor work trucks.
When the remodel wraps up and the family is ready to move back in, the container gets unpacked at their own pace before we swing by for a hassle-free pickup.
