Abco Rental & Storage, IncDelivering heavy storage equipment across water demands precise coordination and experienced drivers. Abco Rental & Storage, Inc. recently completed the delivery of two 20-foot ground-level storage containers to Frye Island on Sebago Lake for Greatfalls Construction.
Navigating Island Delivery Challenges
Building on an island introduces unique staging and transportation constraints. Frye Island is accessible only by ferry during the active season, requiring careful scheduling around vehicle weight restrictions, departure times, and seasonal access rules.
Rather than mobilizing a single 40-foot container, the project called for two 20-foot containers. This approach offered distinct practical advantages:
- Maneuverability: Frye Island’s narrow, wooded access roads and residential turnarounds are much easier to navigate with a shorter, more agile truck setup.
- Flexible Staging: Two separate 20ft boxes allow Greatfalls Construction to position units in different staging areas on-site, keeping access paths open for trade vehicles and equipment.
- Ferry Transport: 20ft containers fit standard transport parameters efficiently, ensuring straightforward loading and unloading across the Sebago Lake crossing.
Secure On-Site Storage for General Contractors
When managing a high-stakes construction build on an island, supply runs back to the mainland take hours out of the workday. Having building materials, staging supplies, and high-value tools protected right on the jobsite is essential.
The two heavy-duty steel containers provide Greatfalls Construction with:
- Weather-tight protection against Maine lake weather and shifting seasonal moisture.
- Ground-level walk-in access for quick loading of power tools, hardware, and interior finishes.
- Dependable site security to prevent theft and keep high-value project materials locked down overnight.
Dependable Delivery Anywhere in Maine
From bustling mainland jobsites to challenging island locations, Abco Rental & Storage works directly with general contractors to solve difficult site logistics and keep active projects running smoothly.
